Jefe I am nor was I ever a sniper however over the years I have had many SF snipers somewhere in my unit(s). I don't have enough personal knowledge on the subject matter say bad or good idea. But... when you have the gun carriers and users assessing the system and putting it through all the test I will take their word 10 out of 10 times. If it will help them kill jackasses I say get as soon as possible and get our boys trained up on it.

Another tool in the tool box, LTC Jeff Shearer - The 6.5CM fills a gap that the 7.62x51 can't fill and hits a bunch softer than the .300Win Mag and .338 Lapua Magnum for "targets" that don't need the energy or range. Like you said, those cats know what works. If they picked the 6.5CM over the .408 CheyTac or other offerings they had a reason. Personally I love it. My goal is to get beyond the 800m I've been hitting and go to 1,200-1,400m or so, which that round CAN do. I'm the wild card in the mix! LOL

I've been saying for 6 months or so in posts like this that 6.5CM is a far superior round. I know y'all that shot the M-14/21 and the M-60 and/or M-240 will curse me until eternity, but the 6.5CM is a flatter shooting round that can reliably go BEYOND 1,000m and in PRS circles can do 1,400-1,600 with good shooters on a good chassis rifle. SOCOM/JSOC has both of those and I have no doubt some of those cats can do it repeatedly if I can do it at 800m. And I can.
They already have the .338 Lapua Magnum and .300 Win Mag that aren't "in the logistical supply system" so non-NATO rounds aren't an issue. Not having a common round to pull from is the only real issue, but snipers rarely use 7.62mm Ball anyway. It's not match grade and that ends the argument.
