In my opinion, the Army height/weight standard has been flawed my entire career. I'll use my own height and weight as an example. I'm am 74 inches (6ft2) and I'm supposed to be 211. I haven't been under 211 since 2002. Now granted I'm 235 with 14%, so I am ok, but I can't imagine how I'd look at 211 these days. Probably not as healthy as I am now. The measurement process is also flawed. BMI procedures need to be revamped and I hope that input and process development from true medical professionals actually produces a positive way forward.

Thanks for your feedback Chief! I hope they do take the input of these professionals. I wish I was 6'2 but unfortunately i'm 5'6/210 (273 apft score). Right away people think fat, though I do have some love handles they aren't drooping over the sides of my uniform. I'm built like a Fullback or Middle linebacker at 5'6.

Everyone is getting heavier, but good points on BMI, different body types and locations of fat. Healthy diet, weight and exercise should be fundamental for military members. If they are motivated to stay in the military, they will adhere to standards.

Great post Ma'am! I'm just wondering what new method or methods they plan on using.

I know the tape test is flawed, I paid to have myself tank tested a couple times. I'm a thick female and was concerned when I measured almost a third of my body was fat- the tank test showed that I was at the higher end of the healthy spectrum- 25%, perfectly healthy.

This is something I need to do. I'm that short stock guy that's built like a tree stump.

SFC (Join to see) - I was worried when I measured that high, I don't want to be unhealthy, but I know I'm a tree stump too haha
