Serve 5-20 years in the service with decent benefits, decent job and guaranteed pay only to get a job making coffee and lattes making minimum wage with no benefits veterans aren't that desperate for a job.

A company the size of Sbux has more than Barista gigs. If you take time to check out the Sbux corporate career site - which took me less than 15 seconds to find thanks to Google - you can find a variety (500+) of leadership positions, technology, Manufacturing and Distrib gigs. You might be "above" all of these positions, but there are many veterans who would be proud to work. Last but NOT least - OF COURSE they have benefits - Sbux also has a College Achievement Plan (SCAP) for veterans looking to pursue their bachelor's degree through ASU.

SFC Chad Sowash - Roger. I wasn't too happy about the whole refugee thing, hence the undertone of grumpiness...

Totally get that... You've got to look past a single initiative and understand what the organization does in a holistic sense. I know some outlets were steering people wrong, which is why you've always got to verify before you trust the intel.

The refugees shouldn't be an issue, most Americans whine and complain about how much they make now. Refugees however is a different story.

SPC (Join to see) - The refugee plan isn't US-centric. From Howard Schultz's letter "..we are developing plans to hire 10,000 of them over five years in the 75 countries around the world where Starbucks does business."
