Technically they do not exist. Chinese in Hong Kong prior to the Chinese takeover were given the option to remain British subjects or become Chinese subjects. Those who chose to be British were given British passports and moved accordingly. At no point in time have the people who remained, been given the chance to renounce their Chinese citizenship and become Brits. The indiginous folk (IF) in the area, likewise, were given the same option. Stay or leave. Upon the area being attacked by the arabs (1948), the IF were told by the Israeli's "you may fight for us if you like or you may remain neutral. Should you take up arms against us, you will be killed." To a man, the IF remained neutral as they thought the arabs would prevail. When the Israeli's won the 1948 war, the IF were told "we won, the side you backed lost, you may stay as Israeli's but keep your religion or you may leave." Sadly, the IF chose to leave.

At that point in time, they became displaced British subjects. So the only place that should be creating a land for them is Britain. In British held territory. This means as of today, they could be in the Falklands, Belize or the British Virgin Islands. Now at this point in my reply we're not discussing how fair or unfair the British/UN/American partitioning of the land legally named "The British Palestinian Mandate" was done. No one really cares. If someone did care, they would take the entire case back to the UN as sadly, legally, that's where it needs to be. Yelling at the Jews and IF to just "be peaceful and work out a solution" is not the answer. Forcing the Jews to accomodate them is not the answer either.

Sgt Wayne Wood - Sadly, the British were parcelling up their land and deciding which pieces of the empire to keep and which to "let go." TBPM was on the "to go" list. Sadly, the UK had wanted to do a fair partition along the lines of what was planned for India (Muslims in one area [Pakistan], non Muslims in the other), but for some strange reason, both sides (Arab and Jew) decided to start IRA-style activities and once they killed the first British soldiers, the UK laughed at both of them, called them "wogs" and left the next day.

The Brits were so pissed they armed both sides and gave intel to both. "Hey Jews - the Arabs are mounting an attack on you tomorrow, here's some guns." "Hey Arabs - the Jews are mounting an attack on you tomorrow, here's some guns." More people would die during the stupidity of the British leaving than during the 1948 war. The USA tried to mediate something and the UK told Truman to f**k off as well.

Sgt Wayne Wood - Yeah...it makes you wonder. "End Of Empire" by Brian Lapping is a sad, interesting and hilarious book. It goes over every country England conquered, how it got it, how long it kept it and when they granted it freedom, lost it, etc.

I agree PO3. But, they are used as a political football. Kind of like illegal aliens here. A State within a State.
Of course, the Palestinians call for the death of Israel, and pay their warriors for Su'en money for murdering Jews.
