@Sgt Richard Whitmire There are a couple of good apps for that as well if you use a smartphone. I have the USCCA app as well as CCW app on my phone What I like about the USCCA app is it sends me a note when I cross state lines warning me when I may not be good on my permit anymore.

That's good also. There are still places where there is no coverage, I like to have something I can show in hard copy.

SGT (Join to see) - That is always a good idea. I have a digital copy of my insurance card, but still carry a paper copy in my wallet. I don't know if a police officer would by the "My phone is dead" excuse, but I am not willing to chance it.

SSgt Terry P. Nope, you didn't miss or overlook anything. Illinois does not recognize the carry permit of any other state.

Illinois requires a Firearm Owner Identification Card (FOID) for every weapon you own. In other words, it’s a way for the state government of Illinois to register every legally owned firearm in the state. So, if someone pops off a 40 caliber pistol at a local 7-11 in your neighborhood you can expect a visit from the local police if you happen to have a legally owned and registered 40 caliber pistol. Even if you legally own a pistol, rifle or shotgun and do not have a FOID card for each weapon, the police can arrest you and confiscate your property. The law works very well in Chicago.
