Yes, that should be stressed in all exercise courses in any grade school or college.

Anyone who denies this should do a 5 rep squat max then run. Days, later, do the run and then the 5 rep max. The latter will hurt the last exercise more than the former.

Or you can turn your strength sessions into both. Less rest time in between sets. Lighter weight but faster reps.
