Stricter recruiting standards now could save DoD billions in disability payouts later: study

That's all fine and dandy until the services miss their annual goals again by large margins. Then with tighter medical standards they will look at other things to loosen, like misconduct waivers, GED's, and test scores to make the numbers. That's what happens, just a vicious cycle.

They will have to adjust not just the standards but the quotas. And they should, if we bring in people less likely to end up separating for cause, we should need fewer folks.
