In the words of the band Tool in their song Ænima...

"It's a bullsh** three ring circus sideshow of freaks
Here in this hopeless f**king hole we call L.A.
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.
Any f**king time. Any f**king day.
Learn to swim, I'll see you down in Arizona Bay."

Let's see, where should I move to? Should I give up earthquakes to live with hurricanes? Tornadoes? Actually, if I leave California, earthquakes won't be what drives me out. It will be the insane politics

I would rather live with a possible tornado or hurricane than the possibility of an earthquake.

LTC (Join to see) - De gustibus non est disputandum. I'll let you Google that while I reflect on the fact that I've lived with all of them and earthquakes are no more threatening than hurricanes and tornadoes. I will, however, admit that earthquakes are the least predictable. So, if you don't like surprises, don't go near fault lines. (And don't forget that one of the worst is the New Mardrid fault which is no where near California)

CPT Jack Durish - A yes, good ol' Google, and no argument with your what you say...I just don't like surprises, at least those kind. I have lived with the tornadoes and hurricanes and because of their predictability I can tolerate them, but earthquakes, no thank you.

CPT Jack Durish Come on down to Alabama. Heck we only have devastating tornados every other year. Since I moved here in 2008, we have had at least four MAJOR events and countless minor ones.

Yes, the loss of life and destruction of some really wonderful places would definitely be a low point, as understated as that sounds. I can't imagine living there and dealing with the possibility of this on a daily basis. I know that natural disasters can strike anywhere, but at least with hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, etc., you have a little warning...it seems like this article itself is the warning and it is not very reassuring.
