It seems very strange that the Louisiana ballistic-missile submarine and a support vessel collided off the coast of Washington state in the Strait of Juan de Fuca SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. I realize there is not a sea traffic controller system which is comparable to the Air traffic controller system; but, I expect situational awareness is critical to a submarine as well as a support vessel.
If the support vessel was providing support to the submarine in rough seas this collision would be more understandable; but, resupply would most likely take place at home station instead of this close to the port.
