You're going to get me going again! Lincoln said it period, the PC mafia needs to live with what was said and not hold it to 2019 thinking. Mottos and mission statements change all the time, so change them for the VA, but don't try to change what Lincoln said to that end.

I agree 100%! Do not change the man's words. If the majority wants a new mission statement, then build consensus and develops a new mission statement. Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen

It's not just a motto it's the spoken word if a great President! Leave his words be!

Write a completely new motto if the VA elects, or go with no motto.
Don't reword Lincoln's quote that was adopted as the motto.
