This article reminds me of my first college statistics class. The professor began by explaining the misconception that a man who stands with one foot in a furnace and another frozen in a block of ice, is NOT on average, comfortable. It seems that the US has been attempting this in its diplomacy. From Bush's intervention in the Middle East we jumped to Obama's nonintervention. On average, I don't think we've done well, do you?

That is a step from saying it is a World War...the consequences of this conflict are definitely affecting the world! Refugees, casualties, humanitarian relief, etc. There is no getting away from it!

COL Lee Flemming This conflict has such a strange array of complexities. Trowing together Bashar al-Assad, Vladimir Putin and President Obama seemed more a recipe for impending disaster than it did a path to resolution. You would need a table the size of Texas to make room for the ego involved in any negotiation.
