PFC (Join to see) - The problem is that ISIL has used the civilian population as human shields. Why would they allow any civilians to leave the zone?

SMSgt Thor Merich - point taken but we also have many international relief agencies operating in the area as well many of them retired or separated service members they seem to be there because they want to help.

Any pause would be a mistake. In past wars, there has been a successful pause used before. However, that requires both sides to have honor. ISIL has shown itself as a group with no honor and no respect for humankind. They would only use a pause to refit and regroup.
