I take it that you are new to this discussion. Ignore the NYTimes. They're running a narrative. Stick to the facts and common sense. (Also, use the proper vocabulary) No one is taking migrant children from parents. Indeed, no one is separating illegal alien families, parents and children, if they are simply caught and returned across the border. The only "separation" occurs when illegal aliens request a hearing (as in when they are claiming asylum). Adult illegal aliens must be held securely until a determination is made. Should their children be placed in such holding facilities? Obviously not. Thus, the children are placed with family members currently residing in the US. This has been the policy and practice for some time, long before President Trump's Administration. Problems occur when the families holding such children go missing (probably illegal aliens themselves who don't want to be found). It is not a simple problem, one that cannot be resolved through political and ideological banter.

Indeed, I am new to the discussion. I have no idea what the news here really means - other than it sounds cruel to separate children from their parents - cruel to both these children - and cruel to their parents. Perhaps the secure holding facility for families may reasonably resemble our domestic internment camps of WWII - so families live together. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)

1LT Sandy Annala - Not a bad idea. However, we need to first secure the borders so that the problem can be resolved. If they remain porous as they now our, we can never build sufficient facilities to abate the problem.

GySgt John Olson - Obama ignored the law. When Trump issued an executive order rescinding the process MSNBC pointed out it was illegal. Illegal aliens will continue to flood across the border. About 60% of the women and girls are raped. People get locked in vans and left to die. People are killed and kidnapped. The only way to end this is secure the border. The Obama administration “lost “ 1,400 children and “thinks “ they are in custody of relatives. A dozen or so children were turned over to human traffickers under Obama. Nothing here is new!

GySgt John Olson - I agree. Trump is choosing zero tolerance an option. By choosing that option parents are charged and taken into custody. About 75% of illegals showed up for hearings under Obama. That left a hefty 25% wondering around unvetted. As I have repeatedly said the border is a mess. It s a danger to our border patrol, it is a danger to those crossing illegally and to American citizens that get sucked in like Katie Steinly.

If I break the law ( say I rob a bank) I get locked up, I am separated from all my family. Why, because I broke the law. If you enter the US illegally YOU broke the law ! You and your family suffer because YOU broke the law.

Jefe, I like it. You explain it very simple
MSgt Operations Intelligence
First, they are not migrants. They are illegal immigrants who BROKE THE LAW by entering the US ILLEGALLY. Second, we DO NOT report to the UN. We have the right to secure our country. Third, they would not be separated from their parents if their parents did not break the law. So now people are blaming the country for enforcing their laws and not blaming the parents who break the law. Hypocrisy.
