School safety should be a priority. It really should boil down to personal choice. Denying a teacher the ability to protect themselves is bad. Forcing teachers to be armed, would be worse. It is one thing to have a permit. Another thing to have the mentality that one could use a firearm in defense of life, and another still to be willing to carry that in a classroom.

PO3 Steven Sherrill Apparently some candidates don't want to prevent school violence.
I'm thankful that teachers where I live are allowed to carry.

Agreed. If the state passes a law allowing school officials to carry in schools for self defense then so be it; but they can't make a teacher carry a firearm. If a state passes a law prohibiting school officials from being armed, an official can't arbitrarily violate that law because they feel the need to defend themselves. I've been told many times, "if you don't like the laws or rules then perhaps you should live and work elsewhere."

MAJ James Woods I have also been told "Don't like it, run for office and change it" Which of course is never that simple.
