Am curious to know who pays the teachers who walk off the job in these various states? Here in TX, teachers are employees of and paid by local school districts which levy taxes to pay all educational expenses including wages and benefits. That means that teachers in all local school districts here in TX would have to walk off the job to force local school boards to raise taxes even more. At present we are paying schools the largest tax bill of all those locally. People on fixed and low paying wages cannot afford to be taxed any more from any government. At the city level 70% of the city's total budget goes for public safety, police, fire, emt. In the meantime wages and benefits do not go up. Something is wrong around here..
