At first, when I heard about this and saw the crest, I thought it would look strange on the uniform. But, I think it actually looks better than the old crest.

Why? Also, was there any regimental history lesson sent throughout the corps explaining it or was that simply left to 68 CMF Leaders to do on their own at every level?

SGT (Join to see) - There is a history to it. The roosters and chickens were once used as currency way back in the day by medical quartermaster sergeants to buy necessary items such as medical supplies.

MSG (Join to see) - Right. My question was about how such Corps history knowledge was shared within the 68 CMF ranks.

SGT (Join to see) - Not a whole lot was spread thru the Medical Corps until after the fact. At least, it took a spell to reach us lower units well outside of JBSA.

Yeah, it’s been like this for a while. I never had to use this one. However, my husband is still Active Duty and his last unit had required him to wear this one.

The army is just subtly acknowledging that AD physicians are paid chickenfeed by the military compared to civilian physicians. ;)
