However, I would place the Corvair far above the Pinto on that list. I drove one. A friend and I met on the way to work one morning and she made an impromptu race of it until she attempted to negotiate a rain slick corner and lost control. She bent a rear axle when her wheel hit the curb. I drove her the rest of the way to work and returned that evening to repair her car. After replacing the axle, I drove it to her home while a friend followed. I have never before or since been scared of driving a car. Coming around a bend, I saw a red light ahead and took my foot off the gas. The car instantly straightened and I frantically attempted to adjust with the steering wheel. Of course, as anyone who has ever raced can tell you, never take your foot of the gas in a corner. But that only works on a racetrack. On city streets, sometimes you must, and you don't want a car that responds that way, do you? The truth is that a few Pintos did suffer explosions when rear-ended. Ever Corvair was dangerous and any speed.

Love the true Mustang. I remember when the Mustang 2 came out. As a 9 year old I said to myself, “that’s a Pinto”!

The 1963 1/2 Falcon was the platform for the early 1965 Mustang so your evaluation was correct sir. My wife has the ‘63 Falcon and I have the early ‘65 Mustang. I have switched minor parts. The 13” wheels on the Falcon take the fun out of it.

1stSgt Jeff Blovat If you can find the Holly carborator from a 1952 Ford pickup truck (6-cylinder) it will bolt right onto the 144 ci engine in the Falcon or Mustang. Gas mileage will suck, but performance will greatly improve. Also helps to aspirate the engine with a larger exhast pipe
