"What is even more remarkable is that the U.S.-led air fleet achieved these results against ISIS while simultaneously conducting a major continuous air campaign in support of operations in Afghanistan. Although the weight of air activities shifted between 2012 and 2014 to the campaign to defeat ISIS, the actual number of air sorties over Afghanistan remained significant. Between late 2014 and the present, allied forces conducted around 15,000 strike, 50,000 ISR, 22,000 airlift and 12,000 tanker sorties in Afghanistan. The majority of these were accomplished by the U.S. Air Force."
