Navy's issue started when the mess lines became self-service. I would also like to point out the hypocrisy of having 20 fast food restaurants on a military base. McDonalds at Pier 12 at NOB Norfolk is always packed!

I don't think that the mess hall food or the fast food restaurants on a post or base is the real problem. The real problem is the soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, coasties, NOAA people (do they have a nickname? Maybe we could call them atmos's because they have Atmosphere in NOAA), USPHS people (again maybe we could call them pubbies because they have Public in USPHS) and finally the spacer for the new US Space force people who sit around getting fat asses and beer bellies playing "shoot em up" on their phones or laptops 6 and 7 hours a day rather than getting off their butts and actually do something.
