AIM was the Navajo tribes worst enemy. They occupied the one large contractor (Fairchild Semiconductor) plant in Shiprock NM in 1975 that was a large Navajo employer and Fairchild just moved the facility to Asia. Shiprock never really recovered from the loss and it was found that the AIM claim that Navajo workers were being paid less than minimum wage was found to be untrue. The tribe and Fairchild had an agreement that Fairchild would pay all employee training costs and half the salaries and the tribe would pay the workers the other half. So the loss of the plant was a great blow to the tribe and AIM after it all just went back to their reservation and left the Navajos with their loss.

Thank you for the information. As with many who protest inequalities, there are many unforeseeable consequences. SPC Kurt Hesselden
