The Army is fielding new jungle boots to two BCTs starting this month

When my unit was flying search &destroy missions in Vietnam, we received urgent calls from ground forces that a troops jungle boots has rotted off and they needed help. Regs required aviators to wear leather boots and we would call among the unit for size or closest to size needed. Hover down and drop them off. Was always a pleasure to help but only proved that regardless of military situation, military equip issued does not necessarily hold up to the demands encountered
