The Army is trying to bring in more recruits, and it's changing its standards to get them

I mean come on rolled sleeves & pants. U don't do that in combat. No ruck on a ruck March. That's a joke. Ruck March not in tactical formations just looking like the end of a marathon. Joke. What happened to the army. Oh it got pussified.

I have friends in other branches, veteran and active duty...I talk a lot with them. One of them is probably going to retire soon from the Air Farce. Coming up on 15 years in...and even he says they are getting worse...if you can believe that.. hahah
I am hoping General Mattis eventually whips these things back into shape...because what we have now, is a joke, compared to what we used to be.

1 thing that needs to be done is back to 1 central combat uniform with a couple different coloration for environments. Multicam is the best pattern & marine designed uniform is best. Put together issue to everyone. Leave the navy with the their blue & that will start. This different uniform shit was stupid to begin with. It's 1 change that can help hopefully making way for others.

PO3 John Keas - I left the active component in 92 and came back in 8 years later though second time around as an RN. What we will likely see is a smaller force overall, far more automation/drone air and sea craft. The GWOT etc meant loddy doddy everybody come on in we'll find you a place somewhere. Then so many of the malcontents were eventually dumped into the WTB system when had they not been deployed they likely would have been QMP for other reasons.

Bct needs to start training soldiers instead of Lil bitches. We had standards that had to be met. To become a soldier not some punk. Basic is only send out KS to units. Very few are coming out as soldiers. When u have a cell phone or Facebook at basic Ur not training Ur wasting time. When u have sensitivity training instead of combatives Ur wasting time. Basic is a joke. I have a few friends who wen thru in the last year & compared to soldiers who went thru 5 years ago & when I went thru. It was laughable that of the training.

SSG Will Phillips - You'd probably get sick, and your stripes would probably explode off your arm in disgust. I saw how things were changing in the Navy back in the 90s...and it's only gotten worse since I got out. I can only imaging how it is now.

SGT(P) (Join to see) - Indeed. There was a recent article here that had to do with the Air Force and their need to know basic marksmanship and to qualify with an M4 yearly. I saw replies by Senior Air Force Non-Coms that just pissed me off. "These Airmen are specialist in technology and do not need to maintain weapons training. And besides ... They have the Air Force security units protecting them." I'll be 59 next birthday and I still remember my battle sight zero and shoot on a regular basis. Although I can't hit 300 meters with iron sights anymore

They have a history of lowering standards.
We saw it with the large scale introduction of females in the 80s. It has resulted in a 2 tier physical readiness testing. We also have seen the removal of some of the more difficult parts of technical courses to obtain the desired metrics.
