I don't understand why it's so involved and time and resource consuming. The SOF community and other government agencies have essentially field tested countless platforms. Why can't data be taken from that and a decision be made based upon that input?

SSG (Join to see), the Gunny ( MSgt (Join to see) ) beat me to it. I was going to accuse you of using the banned Common Sense. You know you need to fill out the appropriate requisition forms & pass them through HR before using such arcane devices.

SSG (Join to see) - I'm not saying that you are. Just that I've never seen the two of you in the same room at the same time...

The Army has never been serious about replacing the M4. They could have converted existing M4 with the 6.5 Grendel and added a piston for a cheap price.

You are correct. That is the reason that SOF uses other platforms in addition to the M-4. Lucky for them they are authorized to use non-standard equipment.

Thank you for the update, to bad they couldn't get their updated weapons.

It's ok the problem was their was no clear need for it yet and not really one viable replacement that exist right now.

SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth - well not just yet I'm a huge fan of the M4 platform it's very functional, lightweight, modular the round is really great despite the criticism. Maybe in few years their will be a viable replacement that comes along but there has yet to be a weapon system that can clearly blow away the M4 platform.
