It is sadly a necessity. Article mentions how new recruits have greater issues than previous times (e.g. drugs, obesity, low ASVAB, etc.). If we do not have this remedial option, we will have fewer trainees to become future service members.

LTC Eugene Chu it's amazing how much we've changed as a country and society since the time we entered service. I feel like our priorities as a people are really messed up these days. At least to me, it seems people are many magnitudes more selfish than I can remember.

@MSG Thomas Gould The Army needs Soldiers. Any mission needs to change as the situation changes. If a Pre-Basic program is effective it should be utilized!

I agree 100% CSM Charles Hayden I see you're from Los Angeles. I lived in Irvine for a couple of years. Absolutely love it there.

MSG (Join to see) The City of Irvine gobbled up over 3,000 acres of land remaining from the closure of the El Toro Marine Air Station.
I personally feel that Irvine’s refusal to allow a Veteran’s Cemetery to be built on any of that land is a slap in the face of Military Veterans.

Sir, the good thing is at least the program is working. Although it is in the pilot phase, it is not a stretch to see a program like this become the norm moving forward. So many changes, right? Of all the time in human history, here we are living in these years...
