The enslavement of human beings goes beyond religion or one specific culture or society. From Far East Asia through Mongolia through what’s Europe, the Middle East, Africa across the waters to all three American continents; slavery and indentured servitude existed in some forms across history. America in 1619 is just one historical blip of atrocities by the human race. I’m so ready for humanity to evolve.

I can tell you that Islam introduced chattel slavery to the Mediterranean; it was throughout the Ottoman empire. When Spain and Portugal pushed back the Muslims, they took up the slavery mantel and Spain introduced the first slaves to the New World long before the United States was born and prior to its founding as a British colony.

I’m sure Islam didn’t introduce chattel slavery to the Far East during their era of Feudalism or to what became Central and South America with the tribes that lived there. I don’t think we’ll ever know the true origins of slavery and indentured service. We just know human history is filled with humans conquering others and enslaving their conquests. So please lets not try and pin the origins of slavery on one religion or one culture. Thanks.
