The Bitter Pill of Decisive Strategic Defeat

Ukraine isn't a functioning country anymore, it has no economy, minimal agriculture, its political system is being paid by US taxpayers and despite of Hodges spin on it, have not been able to displace the Russians and are now almost continually losing ground with what is left of their Army. Hodges is probably right, the Russian's have probably lost more men than in Afghanistan. We lost more men in the 3 years of Korea than we have from all of the War on Terror. The reason is simple, the US in Korea and the Russians in Ukraine aren't fighting a bunch of goat herders with AK47's and RPG's. The real question is what are the Ukrainian losses? I think the best guess is 7 to 1 dead Russian. Assuming that Ukrainian casualties are somewhere between the Russian estimates and what is coming out of NATO, a conservative 300,000 dead. That leaves the Russians with around 43,000 combat deaths. Even if were double the figure, Russia has a population of 144 million and Ukraine will be lucky if there are 20 million people left in Western Ukraine. So we have 144 million people, vast natural resources, a revitalized military industrial complex and an Army that is large enough to train, replace and rotate troops out of the battle zone. WTF? How does that translate into a Ukrainian victory?

Cynically, the increasing number of mainstream stories unfavorable to the Ukrainian cause is probably the Neocons and Neolibs covering some butt when they throw Ukraine under the Bus. I don't take Marcon too seriously. He is just trying to distract dissent in his own country. Plus the fact that even though the French has a pretty good Army, it's always been aimed at Africa and certainly isn't ready for a near peer battle.

The smart thing for Ukraine to do is sue for peace and hope for the best before Poland and Romania split up the rest of the country.
