Saw tv show on this a few years back. Really surprising how inept this group was given Nazi record of success in other parts of Europe.

Thanks for sharing SGT (Join to see). As time moves on, more and more records which have been withheld for national security act reasons will gradually be released.

SGT (Join to see) - I was reading through the story when I got a message that the last page was blocked.

That has never happened to me before. Did you try reloading? That was the good part.

SGT (Join to see) - the last paragraph I could see seems stage "As for Dasch and Burger, their luck got even better. After a few years in prison, President Harry Truman took further pity on the men who had betrayed Germany and prevented the two cells from causing any damage or casualties. While the mission was poorly planned from the outset it had the potential to cause great damage. So in April of 1948, both men were granted clemency and deported to West Germany. The men did not receive a warm welcome in Germany because they were seen as traitors who caused the death of their companions."
I was curious why it began with "their luck got even better" and ends with the "men did not receive a warm welcome in Germany because they were seen as traitors who caused the death of their companions."

Thank you for the interesting read! Its difficult for me to fathom the Nazis taking such a non violent approach, and in hind sight undoubtedly regretted the move.
