Maybe you can fix stupid. The former employees in this article were under the delusion that they had no obligation to their employer, they were wrong, and they paid the price for being wrong. Better still, they get to be the example for others. Good move by the employer.

Should be easy to get another job flipping burgers beside the illegal that didn't leave work without proper authorization.
