Nothing new here. Walt Kelly, the cartoonist and creator of Pogo, warned us almost a half century ago. We really are our own worst enemy. And the key word is that the threat has become "progressively" worse. "Progress" seems such a good thing, a positive thing, doesn't it? However, it must be taken carefully. I like to compare "progress" to "profit", another seemingly good and positive thing. But, profit without growth is a harbinger of economic stagnation and death. So too progress without growth is equally bad. Those who seek progress to attain their "good intentions" should pause occasionally and look down that road to see where they are progressing towards. They may just see the Gates of Hell looming nearer and nearer.

Great Piece... This Has Been an effort going on slowly for over 70 Years and they started with the fundamentals by dismantling the foundations and back bones of the American core Morals, Ethics and over all beliefs... and Instilling the Socialist and Progressive Communistic beliefs... That Have Never worked... Not even in this Country when they were first tried when the colonies country was founded over 300 years ago...

Very interesting. The West in the nineteenth century realized it had the means to make the world over in the image it wanted and so the national borders expanded to contain distant colonies where European citizenry could police the entire world. The climatic World Wars in the previous century demonstrated that the West would self destruct and so a retreat occurred. A mad dash for independence happened in territories delineated in Western imposed boundaries and many of those states are failed. The twenty-first century began with an assault on American hegemony and the West wilted against the threat of terrorists who lie abroad. Galvanizing together into a unified command to confront the world would not be the answer for the West but rather a time of introspection with much attention to defense could help. The West must either unify more through a common need or divest itself of unity and fight singularly as nations.
