Great article. I wish we could amicably divorce and part ways. I also think we have always been divided. The MSM now stokes the fire with 24/7 coverage to keep all the troops in line. I'd be concerned with those that have tuned out. There are three groups and the article discuses just two. I have not read about the group that just wants to be left alone to live their lives, raise their kids, and live in peace without all this drama.

Yes, there are three groups, much as there was during every American conflict. While the Rebels and Tories fought some of the bloodiest battles of the American Revolution, that third group headed west over the Alleghenies. During the American Civil War, that third group also headed west. Well, you can run but you can't run West to hide these days. The West Coast is now The Left Coast (and so is the East). If we divorced, who would take the wealth? The debt? No, as Lincoln said, a House Divided... It's still true. We have to resolve this divide between those who want to live free and those who want to surrender their liberties in exchange for freedom from responsibility, or we'll all go down together...

Good article, two other items that are apropos,
The deliberations of the Constitutional Convention of 1787 were held in strict secrecy. Consequently, anxious citizens gathered outside Independence Hall when the proceedings ended in order to learn what had been produced behind closed doors. The answer was provided immediately. A Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, “Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, “A republic, if you can keep it.” (Benjamin Franklin)

but democrats... if they truly understood the difference between a a democracy and a republic, they would see that they just don't measure up with the rest of the country. Some are just butthurt that they can't get the whole country in lockstep with their authoritarian agenda.

Democrats aren't the opposition. They've simply surrendered their party to the Left and haven't yet figured out that the Left is not peopled by Democrats

CPT Jack Durish you are correct, but maybe i should add, if the democrat constituency understood that their party leadership has been hijacked by authoritarian assholes, just as the conservative right needs to understand that their party has been hijacked by democrats. Neither party's leadership maintains strict adherence to the oath they took to defend the US Constitution.
