Another important point brothers and sisters:
Please make informed decisions and remember to be pro-active on your credit reports and any financial blips that may pop up. This has the potential ability to affect current security clearances and/or investigations that are still running.

Class action law suit time. I am not normally a fan of lawyers but when a company has personal information of essentially everyone and we personally never chose to do business with that company, they have a responsibility to protect our data at all costs. They did not and to make matters worse, they knew about the breech for a while before they informed the public. Long enough for their executives to sell all their stock options...

Unfortunately, that's not feasible as,
1. When reading the Terms and Conditions (T&Cs), realize that signing up for free credit monitoring and free identity theft protection prompts agreeing to certain conditions. It is an agreement to submit complaints against Equifax's monitoring service, TrustedID, to arbitration. You are opted to give up some of your rights to sue; you cannot sue on your own behalf, and you cannot join a class-action case or benefit from any class-action settlement.
2. The other issue implied in their long T&Cs is that Equifax will not help fix any problems arising from the breach. This is clearly inferred in the statement - "We do not offer, provide, or furnish any products, or any advice, counseling, or assistance, for the express or implied purpose of improving your credit record, credit history, or credit rating", and moreover "By this we mean that we do not claim we can 'clean up' or 'improve' your credit record, credit history, or credit rating."
3. What adds insult to injury is that This happened sometime in July 2017 but Monday 11 September 2017 will be the first opportunity to sign-up for a free credit monitoring and a free identity theft protection for just one year as a result of this breach on https://www.equifaxsecurity2017.com/.
4. You wanna know what happened between July and September? Senior executives at Equifax were selling their holdings.
There will never be a class action suit as a result of this.

Then I guess I will pay for life lock and not sign up for their free monitoring and reserve the right to sue their asses if my crap is misused.
