Does this moron not realize that Brazil just saw a loss of 10% GDP due to publicizing their economy. A government run monopoly of oil has always ended poorly, he attacks their non-elected president as someone not having authority in Brazil when the previous President Dilma Roussef was removed from office for the legal repercussions of bribing the Government when she was in control of the Government Sponsored monopoly PETROBRAS. Government ran autocracies have a very poor performance record when compared to free market capitalism economies. The ignorance of the basic facts surrounding the examples demonstrated by this author is amazing.

SSG Diane R. - That is what socialism (as defined by low economic freedom index) gets you. When the only way to get ahead is to get permission from the government to do it, it's called corruption. I lived in South America for years, you can do whatever you want there unless it involves starting a business or making money. When the Government is in control people suffer. Governments should regulate and promote competition not establish control over businesses.

And I do find it interesting that the use of offshoring and mass immigration (supported by capital) to undermine domestic labour is nowhere mentioned by the author of the article.
