LTC Jason Mackay Great article and from a young Captain. I am impressed but I am not surprised. I wish I had written more while I was in uniform. I have tons of green books just wasting away. I point the finger of blame squarely at Fort Lee and CASCOM or SCoE. Talk about group-think. But I will add in MCoE (sustainment branch) as well. They are both a self licking ice-cream cones of building the empire regardless to the cost in Personnel, Training, and Equipment. MCoE controls the BCT and below CSS MTOE. I found that odd. As the Sr. Sustainment OC/T at NTC, I never met a MCoE rep. But then again SCoE sent out a brand new 2LT that was serving in a HHC unit at Lee. The reason why logistics is a disaster is the guys with good hair and good words are in charge. It is not about understanding the sustainment system. Its about fitting a particular mold. (Please tell me how GO Bingham got to her position, my example) I thought Perna would have broken it up but CASCOMs recent comments about the Warrant Officer Corps tells me otherwise. There are ways to fix the system with what is currently on hand. Other issues like not nearly enough flat racks to move all the CL V for the Artillery BN in the BCT will never be fixed with the current MTOE. That blame rests solely with the FiD guys at Lee. Ok, rant over.

A lot goes into that, hopefully they fix their issues.
