Thank you for posting I just learned something about Mongolian economy. Now all I need is for someone to bring that up in conversation. On a side note, the last time I was in Bejing, my tour guide was a Mongolian illegally in China. Apparently, working as a tour guide and dealing with the Chinese version of ICE was a better option than staying in Mongolia.

Cpl Joshua Caldwell – You're welcome, Sir. I've been in Colorado since 2001 and didn't realize until today that Mongolia was one of our 10 Sister Cities. One thing I enjoy about daily engaging on RP is routinely expanding my worldview and my social-media network. Thanks for engaging and please be sure to connect!

MSgt Ken "Airsoldier" Collins-Hardy I do want to visit Mongolia some day, not sure if it will ever happen but my wife's aunt stayed in a yurt there for a month. She had some cool stories.

Cpl Joshua Caldwell - I'm glad you shared that tidbit. Since I've been learning about Mongolia, I'm constantly seeing the term 'ger' or 'gur' to identify the homes in which Mongolians dwell in the steppes. And I think you just taught me how to pronounce the term – Yurt.

Pvt Wayne Wood – Don't make me do that again. I'm familiar with John's Perkins book, "Confessions Of An Economic Hitman" too. We've got a God-awful history with overthrowing our Latin American neighbors no thanks to the Dulles Brothers.

Mongolia reached out to US and European institutions early after the Soviet Union dissolved. I remember articles on when they started their exchange on a black board.
