Interesting question that I'm really not equipped to answer. I've never been alone in my life but have been around many that are. Most that I've known seek out companionship and interaction with others, but can understand that people with other issues, such as many vets, simply can't easily do that. There are so many causes of depression that I'm not sure you can single out loneliness alone as a main factor, a contributing factor for sure though.
