Six 106 recoilless, what a killer, in the 82nd ABN, we only had one 106 on a jeep. Push twice for the 50cal spotter round, and pull for the 106. It sure mad a loud BANG.

A Troop 2/17 Cav, 1st Bde, 101st Abn Div, VN, 2nd Platoon, we had 2 M-151's with 1 106mm RR on each for each platoon, the rest just had M-60's and a couple of sand bags for armor. Several times we were assigned to guard forward artillery (105's) sites when they set up. If the conditions were right, no officers above company level, in sight we would have a duel the 106's vs the 105's against a nearby hill side target, fun times. I was in the Infantry Squad so I never got to fire a 106 :( I have some pictures on my laptop of the 106's, just cannot find them ??

SGT George Edward Brown - Nice picture, is that you? The 106 that I fired had a 50cal spotter gun on top, if I'm not mistaken, two push's to fire spotter rounds, and a pull to fire the 106.

By the way, my brother was with the 101st in Vietnam 1966.

Designed I believe for the FULDA GAP as a tank killer, the draw back was the crew had to exit the ONTOS to reload the tubes.
