Capt Walter Miller . Walt, elections have consequences. This was easily foreseeable based upon the previous behavior by this administration. I am not sure what the surprise and outrage by you is all about. You have openly supported and have been the chief cheerleader for this administration who is now hell bent on crushing a 240 year institution with a track record of excellence and success. He will sacrifice the Marine Corps at the altar of political correctness because that is how he sees "fundamental change" for America.
Thanks to people like you, we are where we are. You were fooled and now you want to get your hackles up when the line that was so easily seen is crossed. Wake up Walt, smell the coffee. I hope you are pleased with what your party and soul mates are bringing us.

Walt--Separate from my disagreement with the premise of the petition, a couple of admin notes, if you are able to edit your petition. First, I'm pretty sure it should be ...adversely affect...as opposed to effect. Second, I think your sentence about not being done in good faith is unprofessional and unsupported, and adds no value to the petition. Clearly the President believes that giving every military member, regardless of gender the opportunity to serve in any career field for which they meet the standards is good for the country as a whole. Now, you and others may disagree with that opinion, but to suggest the POTUS made that decision in bad faith is not appropriate, IMO. Plus, it makes you sound more like a conspiracy whacko than a concerned Marine. I think a military officer publicly accusing the President of acting in bad faith does not reflect well on the Corps.
But that's just my take on things that I think will make your petition appear more professional.

Col. Mathews. I know the difference between affect and effect, and I think you are right. There is a disclaimer when you get to a certain point -- no editing beyond this point. The finished petition doesn't show me as an old retired Marine geezer. But you are probably right about it not being the best display of professionalism.

Capt Walter Miller - I hope you didn't take my comments as a jab at you. While I don't agree with your opinion, I really was just suggesting ways to make it more effective.
