You use the word problem. We, the non-Muslim world, are dealing with a religion/culture that goes back thousands of years. We, the non-Muslims, don't change it, we CANNOT alter or amend it. The tenets of Islam are etched deeply in granite. Sharia Law is an abomination to us. The way Muslim women are viewed and treated publicly AND in private is an abomination AS VIEWED through our Western eyes. But we need to realize that this religion and this culture is deeply ingrained in every fiber of Arabic people, those of whom are Muslim. This, IMHO, is what we are forgetting and what is getting us in deep trouble across the Arab world and now in Europe, Africa, and elsewhere. I believe a gravely problematic Pandora's Box has been opened and the consequences will NOT be good. And for a very long time...if it ever ends!!!

CPT (Join to see) - I never read your post, so I have no idea what you said. My post was my own entry into the discussion without reference to anyone else or what they did or didn't say.

CPT (Join to see) - So sorry for the confusion I caused. I just hate it when that happens. It would appear that on second glance one might easily have assumed as much by my reference to the word "problem." Indeed, my very cursory visual scan of the picture and the accompanying dictum must have resulted in a sub-conscious identification with a few key words, "problem" being the operative one. Once again, my humblest apologies. It was still, nonetheless, not a reflection upon or rebuttal with what you had written.

This article is representative of many middle eastern countries. Women in the middle east are second class citizens, and Asian women are treated even worse. This a culture that has been seated for hundreds of years so it will not change anytime soon...even worse is the rise in human trafficking in the Caribbean and in the US. The middle east is going to get worse not better.

Our Constitution supersedes religious ideology, therefore religion can not be used as justification for abuse, neglect, etc. In other countries we are forced to respect the laws of their lands, but it never stopped me from planting a seed of rebellion; our armed women.
