Very interesting article and although I agree to some points and disagree to others... I do believe that the change in mentality although viewed as weak and probably prejudicial may be exactly what we need. The Army is shifting gears towards a more critical thinking mindset in its troops: officers AND enlisted. The ability for them to have ready access to information and the WHY? mindset may be the baseline for building upon such. We must use our knowledge on the new generations tendencies to reform the way we train and yet I still the faucial ins we need. It's always been about overcoming and adapting and that's exactly what we shall need to do now and with the generation to come.

Correction on the sentence: "...reform the way we train and yet instill the discipline we need."

I think every generation, especially each generation of military members, believes the next generation is soft. I remember the "old timers" scoffing at how soft the new VOLAR Army of the late 70s was. Now I chuckle when I see that referred to as "old school" tough, and people talking about whether we should go back to the tough ways of the Army of the 90s.

But mostly I chuckle when I hear about how weak and entitled the milenialls are supposed to be, because I just think, which generation is the one that raised their kids to be so entitled and weak, and failed to instill tings like self discipline in them. Oh yeah, that would be the generation bitching about them.
