All this bluster about North Korea having nuclear weapons is meaningless. If they ever could launch the one or two, or maybe even three they have one Ohio class boomer would respond with over six times their total capability. And that's one ship, not to mention the land based ICBMs that have most likely been reprogrammed with NK targets by now. Kim knows this very well and while he could care less what happens to his people, he knows his beloved military would be blasted back to the stone age if he were to initiate anything. He's getting what he wants now, world attention, and probably hopes some of that will equate to removing sanctions somewhere down the road.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen & I think that's his long game. He doesn't want to throw any punches. He's just being the squeaky wheel. His game may backfire on him, though, if he ever actually does threaten anyone in the region. It was a ballsy move to fire over Japan. Probably very fortunate there was no payload on that missile.
