Because the cabin altimeter gauge of their aircraft was difficult to read due to its size and location, and "its audible warnings are ineffective through the flight envelope." Holly s_ _ t. All of these years later they are just now figuring it out ? 1991 I remember standing on the flight deck next to one of my squadrons F-14's and heard that a F-18 ejected near the carrier because it could not land on the carrier. I thought at the time, that it was odd, because I did not see a F-18 miss a abnormal amount of traps. I wonder now if this was not the issue.
