When I was in the Navy, (mid 90s) there was a case where an AF and Navy sr NCO died taking their respective physical performance tests. The AF stopped running and the Navy issued mandatory pt. It was not as formal as Army or Marine Corps pt but they recognized there was a problem.
I like how they are not the worst service with the fluffy factor but they are taking steps to improve themselves. I've always been impressed with the Navy.

Thanks SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL for letting us know that the US Navy has developed a plan to combat obesity in the ranks. I hope the plan to use the gyms in close proximity to the sailors will encourage more to use the gyms and get in better shape.
