The Number 22: Is There A 'False Narrative' For Vet Suicide?

Bridget Bosch - Yes but the point is, the narrative that is spread like manure is leveled at Iraq and Afghan vets.
As I said, 1 is too many, but spreading a false narrative is just as bad.

The Narrative most Americans THINK they understand is that 22 Vets, recent, common, in the starbucks, in thier collages, in thier homes dating thier daughters and sons.. 22 of THOSE vets will kill themselves today and that is false... BTW, your young vets of the last 10 years believe what they hear as well,,, they believe 22 of THEM will kill themselves EACH day and that is FALSE as well.
You have any idea what that does to a young returning SM, who has been told they have PTSD, by a doc, or mom, or professor, the media and 22 of you will die each day..

Even 1 is too many... I've held the hand of the family after..two times,,,, and the SM that tried and failed...So I understand about as well as anyone short of the SM that tried and failed or the immediate family members... But stating a fact and then implying the lie to the avarage american that 22 current and common vets of the last 10~15 years is going to kill themselves today is dishonest and hurtful.

NOTHING in those words above takes away from the real tragedy that nation wide, service wide, encompassing all vets, far too many take a permanent step to a temporary problem....
