Some people look back at missteps to relish in denigrating our history. I prefer to look at incidents such as this as lessons. Always remember, we can only be just in our own time. We cannot undo the wrong. We cannot undo the damage. We can only learn so that we don't make the same mistakes again. (We'll make new ones, I'm sure)

..."... Forty-two years after the Aleuts returned to their burned and ransacked villages, the U.S. government finally recognized that their constitutional rights had been violated.
In 1988, Congress passed the Aleutian and Pribilof Islands Restitution Act, which paid $12,000 to Aleut surviving victims of the internment camps. By then, about half of the survivors had long since passed away...."...

Not the only other internment. German Americans and Italian Americans were also interned during WWII. German Americans were also interned during WWI. My subversive German grandmother(born in the old country) probably avoided the camps 'cause she had a son in service banner with four blue stars on it.

If American Internment camps are atrocities... then what word describes NAZI death camps? NPR definitely goes for self-flagellation.
