Darn, I would really like to read that article, but not so much so that I will subscribe. That being said. I think the Trump as the outsider, and a man who is used to getting things done will be a breath of fresh air. He has the sense to appoint very accomplished people, and to let them do their jobs. I expect a much more efficient government for the next 4 years.

I get that a lot. The reason there needs to be a way to post a "dead" link with a paragraph or two as a teaser cut and pasted.

I hit a paywall, so wasn't able to read he article. I'm quite interested though. Jim Webb was the only Democrat candidate that I could stand. I respect him even though I don't agree with him politically. Had he been on the ticket, I may have voted for him.

We have seen two very significant events in our primaries this year. On the DNC side, widespread corruption has been confirmed where the DNC has essentially taken the power of the people away to insert their own candidate. While they generally complied with their own rules to do so, the extreme element of those rules were invoked (super-delegates choosing the candidate vs allowing the primary votes to decide). Additionally, the DNC went out of their way to favor one candidate over the others and essentially ensure only that candidate would win. If this is the polar opposite of what the Democrats claim they stand for, I don't know what is.

On the other side, a single candidate managed to slip in by carrying enough support while all the other candidate's each argued over minor differences and could not come together with a single candidate to challenge Trump (at least not in time). To the credit of the RNC, they did not break their rules, they did not overtly challenge Trump, and they did not attempt to modify the rules to prevent Trump from getting the votes. It frustrated me to see him get the nomination but I can say I approve the actions (or restraint) of the RNC significantly more than the DNC. They presented a candidate who genuinely earned the nomination by garnering the most votes from GOP members instead of super-delegates).

So you're right, the primaries are a problem and they should be looking at applying better rules which truly seek the opinions the votes of those who subscribe to those parties. Not the ruling class from the party and certainly not the leaders of the party's organization. Additionally I don't believe those who do not register with the opposite party or any party at all should be allowed to vote in the party they're not registered in. Furthermore, super-delegates should exists in very small numbers to ensure there is not an even split in the vote (i.e. to be the deciding vote in a tie only).
