I don't think the Dems even know who they are right now. They are right now deriding positions that they themselves held only a couple years ago. When they pick their nominee, they might yet come together. But it will be interesting.
If they choose one of the loons to be the standard bearer, the Socialists will be trounced in the general election, their ideology repudiated. If they choose a moderate and they lose (more narrowly, probably), the Socialists will take over the party. If either crew gets their guy (gal) nominated and they win, that spells curtains for party unity, as the winning team will populate their administration with ideologically similar people and freeze the other out.

At the same time, the GOP is going to have to do some soul-searching to figure out who they are once Trump is out of office. Who they are now is not who they were before Trump, and they need to decide which GOP they are going forward, Interesting times we live in, for sure.

The Democrats are in a civil war and nobody is dealing with it. Yes they are feeding on themselves.

What is really shocking is the absolute silence from Obama on Biden being savaged by his party. Wasn't Biden Obama's VP for 8 years? Is there zero loyalty there? I am not suggesting Obama needs to officially endorse Biden but he isn't even commenting about what is going on in the debates and in the primary.

I think Obama had already chosen a different preferred candidate, but is waiting for an appropriate time to announce it. He doesn't want to overtly be seen as a kingmaker, and if his preferred choice were to falter - as Biden looks like he may well do - it would be a very big embarrassment.
