This puts me in mind of the problem of globalism. Think about it... How could we create a one world government from a host of mutually exclusive forms of government such as China and the United States. Obviously, it would require compromise. Surely though we've learned our lesson attempting to compromise in the past, haven't we? Take the Missouri Compromise. Who compromised? The people who wanted to end slavery or those who wished to continue it? Therein lies the problem. Compromise ultimately entails the abandonment of principles. Totalitarians, Leftists, and others have no principles. Thus, they have no skin in the game. Sure, they'll compromise. What have they to lose. However, we have plenty to lose and each compromise only serves to whittle away our principles. Why should our children place any value on our principles if we don't? When we abandon principles for the sake of compromise, we are demonstrating to our children that we don't see any value in their either.

Man, your post describes the Obama method of negotiating to a "T", and makes me damned glad we have Trump as President. The guy knows how to negotiate.
