My only cool/funny Just Cause war story was shortly after the invasion started. I was a 36 Lima. (AT&T on wheels). We were next to the chapel at Fort Clayton. We were having trouble linking up with Fort Bragg via the satellite. We finally got a link via the order wire when we started to received mortar fire. I had to grab my M-16 and crawled under my deuce and a half. It took a couple of hours before we were able to communicate with Fort Bragg again. Believe it or not, it really annoyed us that we couldn't get linked up with Fort Bragg when we went back to the switch. Lol.
The PDF sent 3 volleys the first time. 3 volleys the second time. 3 volleys the third time.
The third set of volleys an Apache that was near us took off and sprayed the jungle with its 30mm gun. It was like a movie. Very surreal.
Needless to say, there wasn't a fourth set of volleys.
The PDF either ran out of mortars, just gave up, got captured, or they're dead. Can't think of what else could have happened to them. Escaped maybe?
