We know when women and men work together there are better outcomes. Being a male nurse in a female dominated career field, I worry for their mental health.

I've been retired for 20 years, so I'm on the outside looking in. I was Infantryman for 20+ years (a Very male dominated club) I truly believe the (initial) success of a newly assigned Platoon Leader is heavily based upon the Platoon Sgt. The way a PL decides to interact/command/lead a platoon is their decision, they can be a GO or a NOGO. I can make a soldier salute you, but I can't make him respect you. That has to be earned. You must endure their hardship, you must lead from the front, and you must be decisive.
I was/am old school, I don't know how I would have reacted to a female PL. My nature is a protector, I'm afraid I would have stepped on my (female) PL toes in an attempt to lighten their load, an help them along. I would want to see them succeed, I would want them to be the leader of the best Platoon in the Company/ Battalion.
