Thank you David for this post. I served 3-years in the Berlin Brigade and never knew about the Spartacus Organization and this particular violent uprising in 1919. I appreciate learning something new everyday, especially about events that I can relate to through my personal travels and experiences around the world. I spent a total of over 12 years in East and Western Europe and still find so many amazing stories all the time. History is very important to me.

I served two weeks training with the Berlin Brigade in 1983, the 100 anniversary of the death of Karl Marx. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Thanks for your service! CPT Skip Atwood

SFC Tom Jones - Wow, I arrived in Sept 1975 and was assigned to A 3-6th as an Asst MG and then PLT RTO. My PSG was SFC Steve Ashby and PLT LDR was 2LT Ben Underwood, Co Cdr was CPT Mark Munro. I did a Zone trip to Wildchicken, a week on the Spandau mission with Rudolf Hess and then volunteered to go to the French Commando course with about 40 guys from the battalion. You might remember SGT Brian Deatrumont from CSC 3-6, he was with me?? When we returned, the Bn CSM and Bn Cdr invited us that got the badge to a meeting and it was my 1st meeting with them. A few weeks later I got invited up to the S-2 shop for an interview and spent the next 2 1/2 years in S-2 with CPT Loberg and MSG Churavy as the Bn Security Specialist, mostly handling clearances, maps, order of battle updates, coordinating with the DBC's office on McNair security and of course maintaining the S-2 old M151A1 and then the newer A2 jeep, no more grunt hoofing. I did weekly motor stables over across the street in the motor pool working on the vehicle. I left Berlin and HHC in late 1978 and went to the 1st ID (Big Red One) at Ft Riley for the remainder of my enlistment. I later went thru ASU ROTC and my 1st active duty assignment was Rifle PLT LDR in the 25th ID in Hawaii where I ran into several old 3-6 NCO's who were Top 3 guys by then. I also ran into CSM Parrish at Ft Benning during one of my several different schools there, he was the Infantry School and Center CSM, he invited me up to his office in Bldg 4 to chat for awhile about the good ol' days and give me some sage advice. I knew him fairly well from my time in 3-6 and he and MSG Churavy had handled my E-5 promotion and gave me the NCO Creed.
